Held at the Center of Contemporary Art Tbilisi, this event is part of the Novembre Numerique initiative supported by the French Institute in Paris.

Tbilisi VR Days serves as a platform for viewers to explore the latest developments in virtual reality, connect with like-minded individuals passionate about the virtual reality field, and embark on immersive storytelling journeys across various fictional worlds.

Virtual Reality (VR) is a medium that transcends traditional storytelling approaches. VR technology engenders a profound sense of presence and often empowers the viewer to shape the story's progression and outcome. It immerses viewers in a digital reality where they actively engage with the content, as opposed to being passive spectators.

The Real Thing is a VR journey into a copy of our world. Around China's largest cities, entire neighbourhoods have been inspired by foreig models. The film explores the most stunning of these "fake cities". It travels from Paris to London and Venice - without leaving China. The inhabitants guide us in the parallel world where they have chosen to live. As VR leads the way to virtual tourism, copycat cities compete to offer a real experience of static travel. Walking the thin line between reality and virtuality, this documentary combines both to enhance a whole new feeling and ubiquity.

Giorgi Molodtsov
Creative Producer of the exhibition
Founded in 2010, The Center of Contemporary Art – Tbilisi is an independent, non-profit, community-based institution, which functions as a station, where curators, artists, students and people simply interested in art, working in international, regional and/or local art scenes can connect and collaborate. CCA Tbilisi also offers a unique library of approximately 6,000 books on contemporary art, art history and art theory, which is free of charge and open to the public.

CCA-Tbilisi's main goal is to support the development of contemporary art in Georgia and in the Caucasus region. For a country with deeply rooted cultural traditions it is of crucial importance to have an independent and open institution, which works on contextualization of contemporary visual culture and helps Georgian and international artists to effectively present creative production to local and international audiences.
